"...Best of all, the dialogue is not written from a parent’s perspective, but from the eyes of the child. They’re not being talked down to and tricked into being nice. The dialogue is authentic; kids are not easily fooled. I won’t go as far as to say, Soci Circle is this generation’s Mr. Rogers, but it’s going in the right direction…Do yourself a favor, if you have a tween child, watch Soci Circle together and let a magical moment between you and your child just simply happen.” (8 out of 10 stars)
Here are just a few of our team members.
On Diversity
"I wanted the show to reflect the diversity of the world in which we live, so that girls can see themselves represented and know that they aren't alone."
- Tiana Clark, Creator and Executive Producer
On the Writers
"The authenticity of the cast and the show is so important, and to that end, we hired 12 writers who wrote about their own experiences and experiences of their friends and family. The cast reflects the diversity of the writers. Considering our writers spanned the globe from the US to the UK to Australia, I'm proud that we were able to pull it off logistically. Our head writer, Candice Smalls, helped to streamline the writing and pushed our creative limits."

On Why Tweens
The tween years, ages 8-12, are the preadolescent years when girls are beginning to understand and define who they are; it’s a critical age of setting their foundation and growing up confident, resilient, and inclusive."
- Tiana Clark, Creator and Executive Producer
On Why this is Personal
"I lost my mom when I was 11 years old, and it was the hardest things I ever endured. Without the support of my grandparents and aunts, keeping me grounded, my life may not have turned out so well. Since then, I've always mentored young people."
- Tiana Clark, Creator and Executive Producer
On Film Production
"This is my first film project. I knew I wanted to inspire tween girls, and the best medium to do so seemed to be meeting my audience where they are: watching video content. We hired the best-of-the-best director, producer, and film crew to execute the vision, and they did an amazing job. Everyone on set was passionate about the mission, and that shows in the final multi-award-winning product."
- Tiana Clark, Creator and Executive Producer
On Working with a Tween Cast
"It was very emotional working with tweens, especially when girls were crying in auditions, reading the script, and saying, “this is what I am going through right now!” The most rewarding aspect was hearing the cast's testimonials about how proud they were to be a part of the Soci Circle because they rarely see themselves reflected in the media. "
- Tiana Clark, Creator and Executive Producer
On Winning Her First-Ever Film Festival
"It’s absolutely surreal to have won our first-ever film festival, six months after shooting the film, and within weeks of post-production. I owe so much to our Director, Cindy Baer, who pushed for us to make the festival entry deadline, and led the delivery of such an amazing final product. The most rewarding aspect — aside from winning —was having a tween in the audience stand up and speak out, saying, “It felt like I was watching myself on the screen." And, having an adult woman in the audience stand up, crying, and say, “I wish I had Soci Circle when I was a tween. This is so needed.”
